Worship & Music

The music ministry at Bethany UCC strives to enrich and support worship through many styles of sacred music which are meaningful to people of diverse cultural backgrounds. We hope to encourage intergenerational participation by creating opportunities to share many different musical gifts, fostering the spirit of Christian fellowship within the chruch and greater community.

Bethany Choirs

During the last year it has not been possible for our choir to meet in person to sing together. Through lots of trial (and some error), hard work, and many volunteer hours, we were able to put together quite a few virtual anthems. These are incredible gifts to our worship experience and our members and we are so thankful to those who have worked hard to provide those to us. Thanks to our Music Director Fred, Musician Raquel, the choir members, and Jason who mixes them together.

You can find these anthems on our YouTube channel or our Facebook Page.

When able to meet in person, the Chancel Choir is a high school through adult choir and they rehearse Thursday evenings from 7:30-9pm. This ensemble sings a variety of traditional anthems including spirituals, motets and new compositions. They provide musical leadership most Sundays from September-May.

Guest Musicians

Our guest organist, Jennifer Scalise Young entertains us with her talents.

Pastor Kim's son was our guest organist for Pentecost this week.  The congregation enjoyed listening to his beautiful music!

Olivia Stevens-Sommers and Victoria Steven-Sommers were our very talented guest vocalists. They sang a beautiful rendition of How Great Thou Art.

Pastor Kim's grandson was visiting this week.  Yes, we start them young!

Bethany Band

The community band was founded by our beloved, and dearly missed, Jack Scott. The members range from young to mature and from those with little experience to those with great talent and experience. The ensemble rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm at Bethany UCC.  We are always looking to add new members.

The Bethany Band leads the worship service at least once a year  providing music and reflection.  They rehearse weekly at  Bethany Church throughout the program year and provide many concerts in the community. At this time, the Bethany Band is on hiatus until after COVID and until its leadership can determine what path it will take.

The 2020-2021 schedule of Bethany Band concerts has not been published yet.  We will post here on the website as soon as it becomes available.
